Significance of Enhanced Oil Recovery in Carbon Dioxide Emission Reduction

Limiting the increase in CO2 concentrations atmosphere, and at same time, meeting increased energy demand can be achieved by applying carbon capture, utilization storage (CCUS) technologies, which hold potential as bridge for emission-intensive industries to decarbonization goals. At moment, only profitable industrial large-scale sequestration projects are dioxide enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR) projects. This paper gives a general overview of indirect direct use captured CCUS with special focus on worldwide CO2-EOR their lifecycle emissions.
